NORA STUMBLED BACK onto the dance floor. Eyes closed, hands thrown in the air, her body was meant to dance. Sweat glistened against her forehead as shifted her hips, grinding into the air. Her friends inched closer to join the fun, trying to match her moves.

She stopped, startled by two rough hands planted on her hips. She opened her eyes to meet the icy blues gleaming down on her. Her lips pinched to the side. Her heart pulsed steadily. He wouldn’t get a rise out of her. Not anymore.

The tall, chiseled man had moves, she couldn’t deny that. She continued twisting her body to the groove. Her hand ran down the side of her body to accent each twist and step.

“You want me?” She met his smile with a smirk.

Biting his lower lip, he nodded. She could see desire swirling in his eyes. His body spread red hot want for the beautiful women dancing in his arms.

“Not a fat chance in hell,” Nora chortled as she placed her hands on his chest and gently pushed him away. Bret grabbed his chest, feigning heartache.

Nora couldn’t help but laugh at the melodramatic actor. He’ll never be a one-woman man. She rolled on the tips of her toes to face her friends, letting her body flow with the beat pounding from the DJ booth.

Cassidy’s jaw clenched as she peered onto the dancefloor. Arms crossed, she squeezed her fists as manicured nails cut into her palms.

Bret pressed his hips into one of the twins. The hockey hoe mewled when his lips met her ear. Moans nipped at Cassidy’s ear. Heat. Rage. An array of complex emotions soared through her veins, ready to burst at any moment. She grabbed the first alcoholic concoction within reach. She downed the glass in one gulp.

Cassidy’s memories played on her heart. To her, it seemed the sounds of the music drifted away from the upbeat tempo to a single blurred rhythm stuck on repeat. Her mind spiraled back to her broken past:
